Self styled experts are presently speculating in public about supplies of Heckler & Koch products to Libya. These allegations are totally unfounded. These speculative statements only serve the purpose of promoting doubts as to the credibility of the firm. Heckler & Koch emphatically denies these statements.

Heckler & Koch lawfully supplies its products to armed forces and police forces both in NATO countries, and in non NATO countries judged politically reliable. The firm does this in close coordination with the German authorities and on the basis of German government export approvals. Heckler & Koch realizes that the company is a part of the security infrastructure of the free and democratic world, and takes care to ensure that its product is legally and responsibly provided to official end users.

On the subject of arms supplies to Libya Heckler & Koch comments as follows:

• At no time have there been G36 assault rifles supplied to Libya by Heckler & Koch GmbH nor firms nor organisations connected to it.
• Neither have civilian defence contractors or VIP security firms been supplied with G36 assault rifles.
• Some G36 film production (movie and TV blank firing guns) and simulation weapons have been supplied to civilian special firms. Those weapons have been demilitarised according to the guidelines of the jurisdiction in which the firms are located.
• Regarding the appearance of pictures of Qaddafi’s son with a G36, there are two possible explanations for the firearm in the photo. The first possibility is that this is a G36 model air soft weapon. The second possibility is that this is actually a real G36 illegally obtained through channels unknown to Heckler & Koch.
